Performing Arts

Students of every age engage in performing arts at all General McLane schools, taking form in the traditional, organized curricular or co-curricular programming such as performing skits at the elementary schools to middle school and high school musicals and Broadway Dinner to the unexpected, spontaneous or less traditional forms such as classroom skits, videos and student iMovies.

In 2013-2014, high school students performed the Broadway Dinner and will be performing the musical The Wizard of Oz, middle school students were showcased in the musical Oklahoma!

The General McLane School District is dedicated to a unified approach to the teaching of Visual and Performing Arts to create life-long learners and citizens who are able to truly understand the Arts content, with the ability to question and think critically about their learning experiences. Our practice and approach is driven by our own experiences and collective wisdom coupled with the works of such experts in the field as the National Art Education Association (NAEA), the National Research Council (NRC), the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Experts also include General McLane alumni, many of who have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, opera, television and broadcasting.
