Desktime with Dads
McKean Elementary hosted Desktime with Dads. Fathers / grandfathers / father-figures were invited to visit the classrooms and spend time with their kiddos. The event was sponsored by the McKean Elementary PTA.
GMHS students attend STEM Day
General McLane High School students attended Edinboro University’s fifth annual Stem Day, where they extracted DNA from fruits and vegetables. STEM Day is an annual event held by the Math and Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Technology, Geosciences, and Psychology Departments.
GM students recognized in 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program
General McLane High School seniors Leah Dubynskiy and Emma Henderson were named Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Congratulations to Leah and Emma!
Nibble Nutrition CEO visits GM
Guest speaker for the High School’s Career Choices, Nibble Nutrition CEO and Co-Founder Max Weber encouraged students to incorporate their passions and interests into their future plans. Weber, who has worked with multi-million dollar brands such as RXBAR, Bulletproof® Coffee, Halo Top Creamery, Power Crunch and Legion Athletics, spoke with students about his career path and how he co-founded of his own start-up.
GM students among 4-H state qualifiers
Five General McLane students qualified for the Pennsylvainia State 4-H Horse Show. Senior Faith Wheeler, freshman Emma Cannata, seventh grader Cullen Howard, McKean fourth grader McKenna Laughery and Edinboro third grader Isabella Cannata will compete in the 2018 State 4-H Horse Show, which takes place October 26-28 at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
A Visit from the Dairy Princess
The Life Skills and Autistic Support classes will be having special guest speakers every Thursday through November 1st. These special guests will be “famous” GM students who have interesting things to share. The first guest speaker was Anna Damore, who currently holds the prestigious title of Erie County Dairy Princess. Anna spoke to students about the benefits of dairy products and its importance.
General McLane High School’s Wellness Club is gearing up to host their 6th annual Zombie Run on October 22nd.
McKean hosts RESPECT assembly
McKean Elementary hosted an AARFS assembly on RESPECT. ARRFS stands for acts of respect, responsibility, fun and safe to be with (ARRFS).
Wins of Kids Wiffle Ball World Series
JWPMS’ Jacob Haugh is at it again! He will once again be raising money for Pirate’s Charities and the Children’s Institute. All middle school grades will go head to head next week seeing who can raise the most money for a chance to play in the 2nd Annual Wiffle Ball World Series on October 26.
Both Football and Boys cross-country are Regional Champions.
