COVID-19 Information

On June 17, 2020 the General McLane School Board approved a plan to begin the Resocialization of Athletics while following current COVID-19 safety guidelines.  The plan is designed specifically for the Voluntary Summer Workouts and Open Gyms that are typically offered during the Summer by the General McLane Athletic Teams, and will be adjusted/augmented as needed throughout the Summer.  The complete plan is available to be downloaded at the link below.

Additionally, all General McLane Student-Athletes and their Parents/Guardians are required to review and sign the General McLane Participation Waiver for Communicable Diseases Including COVID-19 before they will be allowed to participate in Voluntary Summer Workouts.  The Waiver is available to be downloaded at the link below – it is also available at the High School Main Office.  Once complete, the Student-Athlete will need to turn in the completed Waiver to his or her Coach.

Third, all GM Summer Voluntary Workouts will begin with the Student-Athletes going through a COVID-19 screen, conducted by the Coaches.  Student-Athletes will be asked symptom and exposure questions, as well as having their temperatures recorded.  In the event that a fever is detected or if symptoms are present, the Student-Athlete will not be allowed to participate and will be sent home.  Once removed, they will need to secure a Physician’s clearance before they will be allowed to return to activity.  A copy of the daily COVID-19 Screening Form is available to be downloaded at the link below.

Finally, all GM Student-Athletes and their families are reminded that Voluntary Summer Workouts are strictly Voluntary.  While we are all excited to begin the return to activity after a lengthy time away, we do strenuously ask that no one jeopardize their health or the well-being of any of their coaches or teammates.

If you do not feel healthy, if you have a fever, if you are experiencing symptoms or if you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus – please seek appropriate medical attention.
