General McLane High School uses an Intensive Model of scheduling known as Straight Block. Students are enrolled in four classes per day, each lasting 85 minutes. One-credit courses are completed in one semester (18 weeks) while half-credit courses are completed in one quarter (9 weeks). The school year is two semesters, allowing students to earn 8 credits per school year.
Program of Study
Students will be scheduling soon and the Program of Study Guide will be helpful in decision making.
Student Progress Reports
Students’ academic progress can be monitored online at powerschool.generalmclane.org/public anytime during the school year. Reports will not be sent home unless requested from the student’s counselor.
Progress Reports and Report Card
Report cards are printed only once and are mailed home at the end of the school year. To view grades during the school year, please login to PowerSchool. If you need a printed report card during the school year, please contact the guidance office (814) 273-1033, x1906.
Graduates who need transcripts sent should contact the guidance office at (814)273-1033 x1906.
New Requirements for SAT/ACT testing.
College Board (SAT) & ACT are introducing some important changes to SAT & ACT Testing Policies and Procedures. Students must present an acceptable photo ID and admission ticket to be admitted for testing and Walk-In Standby test takers will not be admitted. Online requests for waitlist status may be possible. For more information regarding these changes please see the guidance bulletin board outside of the cafeteria or visit the College Board (SAT) or ACT Websites.
Special Programs (ECTS, etc.)
Mr. Astorino is the counselor for all ECTS students grades 10-12 and will continue as your counselor until graduation.
Seniors and Juniors
Mrs. Weiss is your counselor and will continue as your counselor until graduation. If you are having any concerns you may contact her. She will be handling transcript requests and college application processing. Please be sure to allow ten days to process your transcript request forms and remember to keep college deadlines in mind. This will be a very fast-paced process and you will be required to take an active role in your journey.
Sophomores and Freshmen
Welcome, freshmen, to GMHS! Mrs. Hertel is available to help freshmen and sophomores who are struggling with academics. It is important to seek help early and not get too far behind. Tutoring is available before school, during tutorial, and after school.
