The General McLane School District strives to “meet students where they are to empower them to become all they are capable of being”. This is our mission. Curriculum plays a key role in achieving our mission. As students graduate from General McLane High School, they enter a highly competitive post-secondary environment. It is our desire to give students educational experiences that will launch them into their future with The McLane Advantage. From Kindergarten through Grade 12, each curriculum area seeks to build a plan for learning that incrementally gives students what they need to be successful locally and globally. Teachers from all grade levels work together within each discipline and across disciplines to outline educational goals that empower students for future success. As Curriculum Coordinator, I am honored to lead our excellent teachers through the process of building and implementing our school board approved curriculum. In my five year tenure as Curriculum Coordinator, we were able to build curriculum in the areas of English Language Arts, Science, K-8 Math, Business Education, Guidance Counseling and Physical Education. This year we will be re-writing curriculum for World Languages as well as Family and Consumer Sciences. We will be researching in the areas of Technology Education and Computer Science with the hope of re-writing curriculum in these areas next year. It is an honor to play a part in preparing our students for a successful future in a competitive world.
