District Technology Overview
At General McLane School District, technology used to enhance and facilitate learning and assessment includes laptop computers, desktop computers, iPads, and various classroom technologies such as display screens and projectors. Computer Science and Technology instruction is provided to all students in grades K-8 and offered as electives for students in grades 9-12. Computer labs are available to students and staff in select buildings, while high-speed wireless networks, printers, and copiers are accessible in all district buildings.
Students in grades K-12 are provided with an iPad for use both at school and at home, facilitating remote instruction and asynchronous learning. Additionally, learning support teachers utilize a variety of iPad applications to assist their students.
In 2019, the General McLane School Board approved a technology plan to implement a one-to-one initiative for students in grades 3-12, utilizing iPads. In 2020, the board expanded this initiative to include iPads for students in grades K-2.
