General McLane School District

The General McLane Transportation Department is hiring both CDL (Bus) and Non-CDL (van) Drivers.

We have an immediate need for two CDL drivers to drive daily routes averaging 15-20+ hours per week. Our starting rate for CDL drivers with no experience is $18.36/hr. Higher rates with experience.

We also have an immediate need for two long-term sub van drivers (non-cdl) which will likely lead to permanent position opportunities.

General McLane will be offering a CDL School Bus Driver Class in February 2024. No previous experience is required. All training is free and all needed equipment is provided. We are also offering a $1,000 hiring bonus to new drivers. This process takes approximately 2 – 3 months to complete so anyone interested in a CDL bus driver position for the Fall of 2024 should begin the process with this class.

Please apply for School Bus Driver or Van Driver positions here or contact the Transportation Director, David Cannon with any questions (814-273-1033 Ext 6901 or

Bus Route Requests 24-25

IMPORTANT NOTE: The deadline for submission of Bus Routing Requests is August 1, 2024. The bus routes will be finalized at that time so that drivers can review and practice their routes. As of August 1 at 3 p.m., Bus Route Requests will not be accepted until October 1, 2024. This is necessary to provide stability to the schedule in fairness to all students.

Bus Route Requests indicating “No Transportation Required” will be accepted at any time. We will reopen bus route requests on October 1st, 2024 on a case-by-case basis.

Address Changes

Address changes must be made through the district registrar’s offices. Buses cannot be routed to a new home address that has not yet been changed with the Registrar’s office.

Please contact your student’s building with any address changes you need. Please note that it takes 24 hours for our routing software to be updated with your new address.

How to submit a Transportation Change

Please note that Bus Route Requests can take up to one week to process, so please plan ahead.

To submit a Transportation Change, you must do one of the following:

  • Complete the Bus Routing Request Form (below) if you are a family who has moved within the District OR if you wish to be picked up or dropped off at a location other than your home address.
  • Special Request for Variation Form: If both parents live in the district, but live at different locations, children may have one variation from home pick-up or drop-off. Families who fall under this category should fill out the Special Request for Variation Form.
