Welcome to the General McLane Transportation Department, please contact the transportation department with any district busing questions (see contact information below). Concerns regarding student behavior on buses should be discussed with the school’s principal.

General McLane School District uses its own in-house transportation for  all student transportation needs. We are in need of additional drivers, to apply please click here.

As per the General McLane Transportation Guidelines, we cannot accommodate personal before or after school activities. (birthday parties, sleepovers, ETC) The use of ‘Bus Notes’ or emails will not be honored. Your child must travel to and from school on the bus they are assigned. Contact the Director of Transportation by phone with questions or to discuss emergency situations.

Bus Route Requests 26-27

IMPORTANT NOTE: The deadline for submission of Bus Routing Requests is August 1, 2026. The bus routes will be finalized at that time so that drivers can review and practice their routes. Bus Route Requests received after August 1st may not be honored until October 1st. This is necessary to provide stability to the schedule in fairness to all students.

If you do not need transportation, please take a minute to complete the Transportation Opt-Out form so that the bus is not needlessly stopping at your home every morning.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who do not ride the bus for a period of two consecutive weeks without advanced notice (excluding athletics/activities) will be removed from the route and will need to contact the Transportation Department if they want to be added back onto the bus route. Please allow up to 1 week to be added back to the route.

Address Changes

Address changes must be made through the district registrar’s office or your student’s assigned building. Buses cannot be routed to a new home address that has not yet been changed with the Registrar’s office or assigned building.

Please note that it takes 24 hours for our routing software to be updated with your new address.

How to submit a Transportation Change

Please note that Bus Route Requests can take up to one week to process, so please plan ahead.

To submit a Transportation Change, you must do one of the following:

  • Complete the Bus Routing Request Form (below) if you are a family who has moved within the District OR if you wish to be picked up or dropped off at a location other than your home address.
  •  
  • Variations from the General McLane Transportation Guidelines for shared custody situations will only be granted if a court order is on file with your student’s building of attendance. Otherwise, you will be responsible for transportation not complying with the Guidelines.
