General McLane School District

Dr. Matt Lane began his tenure as the superintendent of the General McLane School District in the summer of 2021. Prior to becoming a Lancer, Dr. Lane was the principal at Fairview High School (Fairview, PA) after serving as the assistant principal at Fairview High School and Fairview Middle School. Dr. Lane started his career in education as a classroom teacher for nearly twenty years in English and social studies at Germantown High School (Memphis, TN), the Western School of Technology and Environmental Science (Baltimore, MD), and Fairview High School.

Dr. Lane has maintained a connection to the classroom through collegiate teaching experiences at Ottawa University and Gannon University. He is currently an instructor in the Graduate Principal Leadership Program at Mercyhurst University. 

A graduate of the University of Dayton where he received a bachelor’s degree in education (English / Social Studies), Dr. Lane has also earned a masters’ degree in English literature from Gannon University and a masters’ degree in curriculum and instruction from Wilkes University. He most recently earned his doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019.

Dr. Lane’s family includes his wife, Becky, and two daughters, Nora and Lydia.
