Innovative Educational Programs & Funds


Innovative Education Programs & Funds serve to improve student academic achievement and the quality of education for all students. Here are some funding programs at GMSD:

  • PA Ed Improvement Tax Credit: The Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) provides alternative revenue for innovative educational programs, while also helping businesses that participate to receive substantial state tax credits. This money goes toward the elementary hands-on science program and balanced literacy level library. Businesses can receive a tax credit equal to 75 percent of its contribution, with a maximum of $750,000 per taxable year.
  • The J.L. Smith Endowment provides a grant to elementary teachers in special area subjects, including health, library, music, art and physical education. This fund was created by Jean Smith, who taught in the District for more than 40 years.
  • The Schulz Family Boys Basketball Fund: The GM Foundation funds an initiative selected by the principal and boys basketball coach to advance the boys basketball program.
